May 19 2016 Last day at Capitol Reef NP

Today we took a good long time to drink coffee, prep a dandy breakfast and I went out afterwards to dump the waste tanks and fill up the on-board water tanks because tomorrow we will depart from this amazing national treasure.
We had time to stop by the RV park goody shop where Peggy found some gifts before taking a last spin into Capitol Reef. We pulled out at the Sunset Point trailhead and took a short hike to a terrific overlook of the the cliffs illuminated by the afternoon light. The colors and textures of the numerous earth strata and the plainly evident results of erosion are extraordinary and I would love to come back to this place.
The weather this week has been very cooperative, resulting in a whole spectrum of reflected colors from the cliffs and running the gamut from bright sunshine with clear skies to snow in the higher elevations. The changing light on the massive rock formations in this park make every glimpse absolutely magical. Most of the park offers free access and just driving through on Utah Highway 24 is a great view of the park. What a place!
We got a few pix which you can see by clicking here
