We were on the road again today. We\nreluctantly left Paradise RV in Silver Creek, WA, and headed about 15\nmiles west to pick up I-5. There, we headed north on the venerable\nfreeway toward Seattle. The traffic was great until we got the\nOlympia, the state capital, where it started getting pretty crowded.\nThere were many spots where construction was allegedly taking place\nalthough we didn’t detect any workers or snarling equipment. However,\nthe barricades, lane closures and detours did affect the traffic from\nTacoma north and progress slowed to a fast crawl. We bailed out of\nalmost stopped traffic on I-5, instead cleverly slipping into almost\nstopped traffic on I-405. After considerable testing of brakes and\nacceleration, we turned east on I-90 and into a faster subgroup of of\ncrazed Washington drivers. They seem strangely unable to merge,\nsignal or refrain from tailgating. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tThe faster speed was fleeting,\nhowever. We soon turned off I-90 onto the Preston-Fall City Road for\nfour miles until we popped out at OR-202, right near Tall Chief RV. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tWe have been to Tall Chief a couple\ntimes in the past. The park is located in a big stand of cedars,\nmaples and alders so thick that neighboring RVers are not visible\nfrom our rented space. We got in through the RPI membership program\nwe subscribe to so the cost at the gate was $11.11 per day instead of\nthe $40 or $50 charged to the unprepared. There is WiFi at the lodge\nand the campground has a summertime pool. There are no sewer hookups\nat the individual spaces so upon departure we have to go through the\ninconvenience of visiting the dump station to leave our shit behind.\nIt’s not a big deal. I am just complaining because I’m whiney.\nShopping is nearby, the surrounding area is pretty and just up I-90\nis fabulous scenery which we may check out tomorrow. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tWe were lucky with our selection of\ntravel time today. About an hour after we got all set up and happy in\nour RV, it started to rain quite copiously. I’m sure glad we don’t\ncamp in a tent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
