Today was not originally a travel day\nbut we found the Nicolaus area so rewarding that we decided to leave\nearly. There is a really great Mexican food and hamburger stand in\nEast Nicolaus but we have eaten there twice and a third time would be\ndancing with a prospective heart attack. There are some nice nut tree\norchards and once in a while we would see a cropduster fly over.\nThose who like catfish and bluegill go fishing here in the lake but\nthe take is mostly carp, a type of fish so worthless that throwing\nthem back is forbidden. With all these stellar features, we decided\nto leave a day early this morning and continued our northward trek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tWe travelled on CA-70 for about as far\nas we could go before merging onto CA-99 through Chico. 99\ntransitioned into one lane each way shortly thereafter but we only\nhad to follow it for about 20 miles before turning off onto a farm\nroad and ultimately to the Woodson Bridge RV Park. The park has some\nspots right along the Sacramento River and we were assigned one of\nthem. Unfortunately, the spaces are extremely narrow and it took us\nabout an hour to get our mammoth trailer into our skinny spot. Rain\nmade it much more pleasant. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tThe park has a lot of what are called\n\u201cseasonal\u201d tenants. \u201cSeasonal\u201d apparently really means\n\u201cpermanent\u201d because some folks have grass all the way up to their\nfloorboards. Many units have wood entry ramps and porches. They also\nhave a substantial quantity of their treasures with them. The\ntreasures are stored under grey and blue plastic tarps when not\nstuffed under the trailers and motor homes. There is no WiFi in the\npark but there are full hookups. There is no satellite TV but the\npark does have rudimentary cable TV that sometimes provides five or\nsix channels with so little static one can almost make out the\npicture. Three of the channels are Fox so that leaves two or three. \n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
